Background

Sosyal is a capstone UX project completed as part of my Certificate in UX & Visual Interface Design. The project involved designing a high-fidelity mobile app prototype from concept to completion, applying the end-to-end UX design process.

This included defining user needs through research, ideating and validating solutions, creating interactive prototypes, conducting usability testing, and refining the final experience through visual and interface design.

The problem

How might we help shoppers be more aware of the environmental impacts of fast fashion and encourage them to be sustainably conscious with their shopping habits?

our Goals

Educate shoppers on the negative impacts of fast fashion and to encourage them to shop with intent

Provide a trouble-free way of searching for verified and responsible brands

Empower shoppers to make a difference in the world through their purchases

Our Users

18-35 years of age

They are heavily into fashion and looking to build a long-lasting wardrobe

Takes pride in their personal style

They are ready to drop a few hundred dollars on one purchase of 3-5 items at a time

Values sustainability or is aware and eager to make a change

Their needs

Needs an emphasis on filters and categories, especially when it comes to sustainable options (material, pricing, sourcing, carbon footprint)

When browsing for new clothes, they want alternate images of how clothing is styled and how it looks on a model to help influence their choice and minimize returns

Most do not relate to current brands who promote sustainability, branding doesn’t fit their aesthetic, therefore, they don’t bother browsing

Many find sustainable terms to be foreign and would like an educational aspect. They would like to exactly what their shopping for

  • Homepage showcased different curated collections, made it easy for browsers and allowed for discovery

What’s needed

  • a feature to search by uploading an image or a link for similar products

  • more in-depth questionnaire and filters to help curate collections that include different aspects sustainable clothing

  • Icons or indications that represented different sustainable traits of each products
